Welcome to Streetly Electronics - the home of all things Mellotronic, run by John Bradley and his colleague Martin Smith.  Since the first MKI Mellotron was born in December of 1963, there have always been Bradleys involved, and the lineage continues.  John built many a mellotron for his father Les at the original factory in Streetly, Birmingham, England, and his accumulated wealth of knowledge makes Streetly the foremost international resource for preserving these enigmatic instruments.

Some 2500 mellotrons were built during the 60's, 70's and 80's and hopefully the majority survive to this day.  Over the last 15 years we have restored, serviced and made playable countless machines from ageing MKI's through to fledgling MKVI's.

What sets us apart is our attention to detail e.g. azimuth alignment of playback heads for optimum performance, tapes recorded on genuine EMI tape stock as preferred by Streetly of old, and fully compatible parts, even down to obscure BA hardware used throughout the original production.

What makes us special?

- Mr Bradley's unrivalled knowledge.

- Never having been defeated by even the very worst machine.

- Our dedication and expertise, as our impressive client list testifies.

- Great customer communication and friendship.

A brief glimpse into our world.

This montage depicts one aspect of restoring a MKII  - replacing the tapes; from splitting the EMI tape, recording and winding on to the drums, azimuth aligning the heads, sorting out tangled springs and lacing the tapes, to placing the frame back into the cabinet, ready for the electronics - another story.
